Dufry’s Gea to speak at ASUTIL conference as registration nears 300

Asutil confirms additional speaker and registration numbers

asutil-logo-1Registrations for the 21st annual ASUTIL Conference to be held in Rio de Janeiro from June 6 – 9 are proceeding at a good pace and are slightly ahead of the organization’s original budget, Jose Luis Donagaray, Secretary General of the Latin American Duty Free Shops Association tells Travel Markets Insider.

“As of this morning, we are standing at 290 delegates. With three weeks to go before the event, we fully expect to finish substantially above the number of 300 delegates which is in line with our plans,” he adds.

“Business in the region seems to be on the upturn. There is an air of optimism that wasn’t present at the end of last year,” he says.

Donagaray also confirmed an additional speaker to the conference program.

“We are pleased to confirm that Jose Antonio Gea, Chief Commercial Officer of Dufry, has accepted our invitation to share with delegates his view on how the business will develop over the next few months. Gea has many years’ experience in the duty free business and his inclusion in the list of speakers is a major boost for us.”

Gea has served as Global Chief Commercial officer for Dufry since 2004 and is a member of the company’s Group Executive Committee. Prior to serving at Dufry, he held several senior positions at Aldeasa in Madrid.
