It is with a very sad heart that we announce the passing of another well-loved member of the travel retail industry. Caribbean specialist Jean Lachesnez-Heude died suddenly on May 2. A private burial has taken place but his friends in the industry may be planning a memorial service. TMI will keep those interested informed of future plans. In Canada, the Frontier Duty Free Association held its first Business & Professional Development  Summit in Whistler, B.C. last week, topped off by a Charity Golf Tournament in honor of the late Lori Watson of Pernod Ricard, who died of breast cancer last year. The event generated more than $27,000. See story on pages 1 & 3. 

DFA vs ELC. The big news of the week in the Americas was last week’s decision by a U.S. federal judge to dismiss the anti-trust lawsuit brought by Duty Free Americas against Estee Lauder Companies. Judge Robert N. Scola gave DFA the right to submit an amended complaint with additional evidence, however, and DFA says that it will do so before the June 3 deadline.
