Airports Council International has released the 2015 World Airport Traffic Report, and heralds the strongest growth in passenger traffic since 2010, with increases approaching the records of the pre-recessionary 2004-2007 period. The themes of 2015 were “persistence and resilience” says ACI, and international tourism was “irrepressible.” Full story on pages 1 & 2.

Despite ACI’s rosy assessment, some key tourism destinations recently felt the sting of terrorism and health scares. Travel data company ForwardKeys reports on the aftermath on European tourism of the July attack in Nice and the attempted coup in Turkey, as well as the falloff in booking numbers in Miami for the Thanksgiving holiday, since the news of the Zika outbreak broke in August.
