With the Tax Free World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes less than two weeks away, industry news continues to pour in, as indicated by late-breaking brand news across all categories.
But first, we are reporting on the long-awaited official U.S. inbound visitation figures from the Department of Commerce for 2017. The DOC’s National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) resumed publishing international visitation and spending data last week, after a six month suspension to correct what it called “anomalies in data collected from Customs and Border Protection.”
The final accounting edges inbound travel slightly into positive territory. See which countries kept coming to the States, and which ones cut back on travel. Page 1.

In a major corporate initiative, Mars Wrigley Confectionery has called for the overhaul of the cocoa supply chain and has launched an ambitious effort to ensure a sustainable supply of cocoa while it protects the smallholder farmer and the world’s forests. The family-owned company is backing the pledge with a commitment to invest more than $1 billion over the next 10 years. Read the story on page 5.
