ACI-LAC AVIATION CONFERENCE IN MIAMI
Some 400 aviation executives from throughout the Western Hemisphere attended the 2018 Airports Council International – Latin America & Caribbean (ACI-LAC) Annual Assembly and Conference that took place in Miami last week, hosted by Miami International Airport. Speakers discussed how critical aviation is in supporting wider economic development, and how aviation will handle the projected doubling of passenger traffic that is forecast by 2040, in terms of airport infrastructure and capital investment, passenger experiences, technology, and air cargo. For some highlights of the conference, see page 1.

FDFA GOLD STANDARD MARKETING AWARD WINNER
Sault Ste. Marie Duty Free: Fishing for partners in the North

In TMI’s continuing series on the Gold Standard winners of the Frontier Duty Free Association for 2018, Sault Ste. Marie Duty Free Store nabbed the top Marketing award by taking partnership marketing to a new level in order to increase its day to day customer base.
The Ontario-based duty free retailer also took home the coveted FDFA Outstanding Land Border Duty Free Employee Award, which was won by Wilma (Willie) Deplonty, who was lauded for her communication, leadership, teamwork, sales and customer service skills. Read more on page 4.
