Port Everglades expansion moving forward

On July 8, Port Everglades gained approval from the US Army Corps of Engineers as well as a commitment of $1.2 million toward its engineering and design phase.

The plan to deepen the channels from 42 to 48 feet would allow Port Everglades to accommodate Post-Panamax megaships. The $300+ million dredging project is now moving onto the engineering and design phase expected to take up to two years.

The following construction phase is expected to take an additional three years.
