This week’s issue of Travel Markets Insider leads off with encouraging earnings results from two leading travel retail giants, as well as the discouraging news that U.S. ultra low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines – once one of the most profitable airlines — has shut down (page 1).

On a positive note, Gebr. Heinemann reports record turnover for full year 2025 – up 10% compared to 2024. This is especially noteworthy in light of the geopolitical tensions and economic volatility,  particularly in the Middle East, which nevertheless remains an “important priority” for the company. Story on page 1.

Avolta also delivered a strong performance across all KPIs in first quarter of 2026, with organic growth up +4.7% compared to the same period last year. Without the impact of the crisis in the Middle East, Avolta says that organic growth would have been 5.9%. More details on page 2.
