Brockmans Gin launches lightest super premium bottle

Brockmans Gin has announced a major step forward in its commitment to sustainability with the launch of its newly-designed, lightweight bottle – the lightest among the bestselling brands in the super premium gin segment. The bottle – used for Original, Orange Kiss and Agave Cut variations – will be highlighted on the JP-GTR stand at TFWA World Exhibition this year (Green L60), alongside an exciting new brand launch.

Due to be released in September 2024 and phased in across all products and markets, including global travel retail, this innovative packaging uses lighter glass, can be widely recycled and marks a significant achievement in reducing its environmental footprint, while maintaining the premium quality and distinctive character the ‘Properly Improper’ gin brand is known for.

In an industry where packaging plays a critical role, Brockmans Gin has taken the lead by developing the lightest bottle among the largest super premium gin brands globally. The new bottle weighs significantly less than its competitors**, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to sustainability.

(**Brockmans’ new bottle weight has been measured and compared individually to each bottle from the competitive set (glass and labels) and this claim is based on the average weight of the competitive set’s bottles. The data has been verified independently by Campden BRI and is available in appendix.)

By choosing a lighter bottle, the brand aims to decrease CO2 emissions through the overall reduction of energy intensive material usage and logistics, aligning with its sustainability goals, without compromising on the luxurious feel and aesthetic that consumers love and that the brand is known for.

Brockmans new bottle weighs only 500 grams and will be the lightest bottle of its competitive set (Based on a comparison with the 7 bestselling Gin brands globally in the super premium segment according to IWSR -2023 data, volumes.) This is 30% less glass weight than its direct competitors, on average. Its direct competitors’ bottles weigh 42% more than Brockman’s new bottle, on average**

Moreover, the new bottle now contains 51% post-consumer recycled glass content (vs0.6% previously). Glass manufacturing is among the most energy-intensive global industries and it’s anticipated that reducing the weight of glass bottles in the spirits industry will save significant CO2 emissions in both manufacture and transport.
