The Frontier Duty Free Association (FDFA) has opened registration for its annual convention taking place from November 18 – 21, 2024 at the Omni King Edward Hotel in Toronto, Ontario.
To mark the anniversary of the association’s establishment, the theme for this year’s convention is Celebrating 40 Years of Growing Together. The FDFA says its goal is to inspire current and prospective members to work together to see the duty free industry continue to thrive and prosper as it has for over four decades.
“Our goal this year, as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the association, is to focus on thriving and building our industry,” said FDFA Executive Director, Barbara Barrett. “Our theme, ‘Growing Together,’ reflects our commitment to positioning Canada as a global leader in the duty free sector and highlighting the industry’s integral role in the expanding tourism sector in Canada.”
The FDFA convention offers an exclusive platform for partners to drive business growth by connecting with buyers from duty free shops nationwide, and offers attendees networking opportunities. The event facilitates industry expansion through product announcements and enhanced brand awareness.
Up to 100 buyers are anticipated to attend, representing duty free stores from across Canada, with three days dedicated to individual business meetings, and social networking events during the evenings. The convention will be launched with the Opening Cocktail on November 18th, and the ever-popular Gala and Awards to reveal winners of the Gold Standards Awards program will be held on November 20th.
“We are excited to be back at the Omni King Edward Hotel this year, as its private spaces perfectly meet our requirements for meetings and networking,” said Barrett. “We will continue to offer presentations for buyer groups and are planning to feature a dedicated Trade Floor once more, giving suppliers an outstanding platform to showcase their unique products at the convention.”
