Tax Free World Association (TFWA) has announced the appointment of Franck Waechter as Managing Director. He assumed the role from November 2, 2023.
Waechter has worked with a number of leading global brands that operate in the duty free and travel retail industry, including L’Oréal, Givenchy, Guerlain, Champagne Laurent-Perrier and Valmont. A French national, he has had a broad international career which has led him to live and work in a number of countries around the world, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China and Taiwan.
Waechter graduated from the ESSEC Business School in Cergy, France with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He has also completed the program for executive development leadership at the IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland. Outside of work, he enjoys tutoring ESSEC students. He is trilingual in French, English and German.

Waechter succeeds John Rimmer, who stepped down from his roles at TFWA at the end of October after more than a decade with the Association.
