BY THE NUMBERS

Here in the Americas, there is a great deal of activity in travel and at the airports. In our lead story, ForwardKeys reports that outbound travel from Latin America is taking off, with Argentina leading the way. As for destinations, Argentinians are primarily visiting other destinations in Latin America, while Brazilians are traveling more long-haul, primarily to the U.S. and Canada. Page 1.

In line with the robust news out of South America, United Airlines has increased its stake in Brazil’s Azul. Page 1.

Global passenger traffic grew by a very healthy 6.6% in February, following slower growth in January, reports ACI, with Asia-Pacific turning in the fastest total passenger growth among the major regions. For a break-down on the Americas and other regions, see page 3.

 

AIRPORTS, AVIATION & CONCESSIONS

DFASS Group has won a 10-year extension to its duty free/duty paid concession contract at Orlando International Airport. Page 2.

DFASS and Virgin Atlantic Airways have also won top honors at the 2018 International Hermes Creative Awards for VAA’s Retail Therapy publication, the second year in a row that they have brought home the acclaimed Platinum award.
