Recuerdo Mezcal launches colorful activation at JFK T4 with DFS

With brilliant bright colors, and striking “Day of the Dead-type” visuals, a recent month-long activation for Recuerdo Mezcal at New York’s JF Kennedy International Airport enticed many a traveler to stop in and try the award-winning mezcal at the DFS duty free store in Terminal 4.

Running from mid-October to mid-November, the colorful counter offered sampling, and live Mariachi music on the weekends – and was perfectly timed to coincide with Halloween and Mexico’s Day of the Dead celebrations.

One of the leading Mezcals in Mexico, Recuerdo Mezcal is made at an innovative and socially responsible company based out of its own mezcal-making estate in Oaxaca. Among its multiple awards, Recuerdo was named 2022 Agave producer of the year by IWSC.

“The activation was incredibly impactful and disruptive. It was a great success,” Angel Garay, Sr. Director of Sales – Travel Sales & Export at Southern Glazer’s Wines & Spirits tells TMI.

Known for its cult-following, Recuerdo Mezcal is cooked with only certified wood over river rocks and distilled with traditional Mezcal production techniques. The agave is sustainably harvested in Oaxaca, in a manner that ensures the preservation of the agave plant and the environment.

Recuerdo Mezcal is available with Gusano for those who prefer the silky texture the agave-worm gives the liquid, as well as without the agave-worm for those who seek smoky notes with less complexity.
