Today TMI discusses the latest IATA global air traffic figures, page 1, and features the continued expansion of TAG Heuer in the Americas, with the opening of the luxury lifestyle brand’s fourth boutique in Latin America, page 2.

 

Awards are in the news, with the announcement of the winners of the 2nd Sunglasses Awards during the Luxottica hosted workshop in Cannes. Retailers from around the world were recognized for their efforts to help grow the accessories category in travel retail. See the full list on page 2.

 

Canada’s Frontier Duty Free Association also honored suppliers and operators in its region with the annual Gold Standard Awards, with results presented on page 3.

 

Special mention also to JT International, who won Best Supplier of the Year at the Frontier Magazine Awards in Cannes. JTI also announced that it is to acquire the leading water pipe tobacco company in Egypt. See page 3.

 

Congratulations to the Women in Travel networking group – WiT – which once again did a spectacular job of fundraising, gathering enough monies to complete the school and home for disabled children in Ramnagar, India that was begun last year. The entire industry deserves a special thank you for its outpouring of support, money and donations. Page 4.
