DFA Golf

The Travel Markets Insider team looks forward to seeing many of you at the 2024 DFA Charity Golf Tournament, which will take place this coming Thursday, Feb. 8. Once again, the event sponsors — the Falic Family Foundation and Duty Free Americas – are partnering with the Miami Dolphins football team to raise money to support leading-edge research and treatments at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

All monies raised by the event will be matched dollar for dollar by the Miami Dolphins football team, a long-time supporter of the Sylvester Center. Last year the DFA Golf event raised a record one million dollars for the charity. DFA worked closely with the Dolphins Challenge Cancer (DCC), the fundraising initiative of the Miami Dolphins Foundation, with each organization made a $500,000 commitment to Sylvester.

Duty Free Americas Vice President Spirits & Wine Jonathan Bonchick, who has been a major force organizing the DFA Golf events since the beginning, expects a capacity crowd at the DFA event.

The Miami football team has been a major donor to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center through its Dolphins Challenge Cancer (DCC) organization since 2010, and has raised more than $52.5 million for the hospital. Its main event is the annual Dolphin Challenge, which has become the #1 fundraising event in the NFL in support of local life-saving cancer research.

Cosmoprof launches in Miami to a huge welcome

The inaugural Cosmoprof North America Miami event was a resounding success, and underscored the need and hunger for a true beauty event in the region, especially one that catered to the whole of the Americas, including travel retail.

The event, held January 23-25 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, reported an impressive 19,000 attendee visits, with visitors representing 113 countries, alongside a diverse array of over 700 exhibitors from 40 countries. There was an impressive showing from the duty free side of the business as well, reports TMI’s Lois Pasternak. See full story on pages 1 & 2, Inside Insider.
