Visa and Duty Free Americas (DFA) have renewed and expanded their agreement that offers special benefits for Visa cardholders at Duty Free Americas stores, convenience stores, border stores, bars and restaurants operated by DFA in some of the busiest airports and border crossings in Central America and the Caribbean. This is the fourth consecutive year of the alliance.
The agreement includes Terminal 1 and 2 at Tocumen International Airport in Panama; the Duty Free Americas store in Paso Canoas, located on the border between Panama and Costa Rica, one of the region’s busiest and most important border crossings for commercial activity; and Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic, where benefits will be available to both departing and arriving travelers.
“We are pleased to celebrate the fourth renewal of our alliance with Duty Free Americas, a pioneering program that marked the beginning of multiple cross-border payment initiatives across the region. We are proud to continue collaborating with DFA to deliver relevant, real- time experiences to travelers in key destinations such as Tocumen International Airport in Panama and Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic. For Visa, engaging with our cardholders at strategic points across the travel ecosystem remains a priority,” said Santi Rega, Senior Director of Cross-Border Business Development for Latin America and the Caribbean at Visa.
“Our collaboration with Visa is redefining airport and border retail. As we enter our fourth consecutive year of partnership, we are proud to expand the program into border stores for the first time, bringing Visa cardholder benefits to travelers across Latin America. We look forward to continuing to grow this partnership and delivering greater value to our customers,” commented Dov Falic, Vice President of Duty Free Americas.

As part of the agreement, Visa and DFA are strengthening their value proposition for travelers with a 10% discount on purchases over US$200 made at participating Duty Free Americas stores.
The benefit will be available to Visa credit, debit and prepaid cardholders with cards issued anywhere in the world. The alliance also includes benefits at participating restaurants and bars.
